This is the appearance of the Minerals tab of the System Coefficients dialog:

Following is a description of the parameters associated with Minerals. Refer to the main System Coefficients page for information on other categories of coefficients. To save the changes made when closing this dialog, click OK. To ignore changes, click Cancel.

All of the coefficients are for the type of mineral selected in the upper left corner. Click on one of the mineral types under Select to view or edit the coefficients for that type. To change the name of a mineral, click the cursor in the box under

Mineral Name and enter a new name.
Molecular Weight is the molecular weight of the mineral (>0 g / mole)
Weathering Rate is the base weathering rate for the mineral without taking other rate-affecting parameters into account (>=0 / yr).
pH Dependence is the exponent of the hydrogen ion concentration in determining the mineral’s weathering rate (0.1 – 0.5, unitless).
Oxygen is the amount of oxygen gas required to weather the mineral (>=0 mg/mole). The weathering rate is first order with respect to oxygen gas concentration if this coefficient is greater than zero.
The Reaction Product spreadsheet includes the amount of each constituent released from weathering of the mineral (>=0 meq / mole). The alkalinity released is calculated from the other constituents.
