Catchment Coefficients : Physical Data

Following is a description of the parameters associated with Physical Data. For information on other categories of data, click on the appropriate tab in the picture above. To save the changes made when closing this dialog, click OK. To ignore changes, click Cancel.

The name of the catchment is shown in the caption of the dialog box (above, the catchment being edited is the Lower Linville Valley). To change the name, click in the white box next to Name and enter the new name. The internal ID number of the catchment is shown next to Subcatchment ID:, but it can not be changed.

Area is the surface area of the catchment (>0 sq m)
Aspect is the compass angle which the catchment faces (0 – 360 degrees clockwise from north)
Slope is the representative slope of the catchment (>0 m vertically / m horizontally)
Width is the representative width of the catchment parallel to the length of the river or reservoir segment to which it drains (the length sum along each bank of all permanently flowing river s and reservoir segments in the catchment in m)
Use scale to calculate sets the area of the catchment based upon the Map’s scale.
Detention Storage is the percent of surface water which is not available for surface runoff (0 – 100%)
Surface Roughness is the Manning’s n factor for overland flow (0.05 – 0.4, empirical units)

When the Apply Changes To Selected Catchments button is checked, changes made to the coefficients of the catchment being edited will be made to all selected catchments. When the Apply Changes To All Catchments button is checked, changes made to the coefficients of the catchment being edited will be made to all catchments.
