With the GUI in Output Mode, double-click on any catchment, river segment, or reservoir segment to view time series output. Below are example dialog boxes for a river segment and a reservoir segment. River segments are modeled as completely mixed, but reservoir segments are modeled in layers; reservoir segment time series output shows results for the surface layer. Catchment output (not shown) shows combined output of flow and concentrations leaving the catchment, which may differ from what is within the catchment.
To view statistics relating to the time series output, click on the Statistics button.
Note that the reservoir output dialog has a button for viewing profile output and mass output. Output for all open scenarios is displayed according to the legend below the graph. Black circles represent observed data points. Observed data can be shown or hidden by checking or un-checking Show Observed in the lower left corner of the dialog. If no black circles are visible with Show Observed checked, there is no observed data for the selected parameter in the selected catchment, river segment, or reservoir segment over the time period simulated. To view the output for a different parameter, click on that parameter in the list on the left side of the dialog.
In some cases, there may be more than one set of output for the catchment, river, or reservoir segment selected. A reservoir may have time series output for its surface layer and also for its tailwater (release). If a simulation of a reservoir has been made with CE-QUAL-W2, there may be several segments for which output may be viewed. In any case, to select the output set, use the drop down box above the constituent list.
There are two formats for exporting output to a tabular text file. The first way, This constituent, all scenarios, outputs one row of output for each day of the simulation. There is a column for each open scenario and for observed data if applicable. The values are for the constituent shown on the graph. The second format for exporting, All constituents, …, also prints one row of output for each day of the simulation. There is a column for each constituent in the list. The values are from the scenario shown to the right of All constituents. Press the button to select a scenario. For either format, a default file name for the text file is displayed in the white box below Create Text File. Click in that box to change the name of the text file. After choosing export options, press Create Text File to export the output in tabular format.
Output may be viewed for several catchments, river segments, and reservoir segments simultaneously. Leave the output dialog open and then view output from elsewhere on the Map. To move the output dialog, click the mouse button down on the caption of the dialog, hold the button down, and drag the mouse. Let the mouse button up to drop the dialog. To close the dialog, click on the in the upper right corner.
