This is the appearance of the Litter tab of the System Coefficients dialog:
Following is a description of the parameters associated with Litter. Refer to the main System Coefficients page for information on other categories of coefficients. To save the changes made when closing this dialog, click OK. To ignore changes, click Cancel.
Litter Decay Rate is the litter breakdown rate (1 – 2 / year)
Fine Litter Decay Rate is the fine litter to humus breakdown rate (normally 0.06 / year)
Humus Decay Rate is the humus breakdown rate (normally 0.005 / year)
Litter Leachable Ions is the fraction of leachable ions in litterfall (0.0 – 0.2)
Fine Litter Leachable Ions is the fraction of SO4 and NH4 that goes to soil solution when fine litter decomposes to humus (0.2 – 0.7)
Humus Leachable Ions is the fraction of SO4 and NH4 that forms organic acid during humus decay (0.2 – 0.7)
Nonstructural Leachable Ions is the rate coefficient for wash out of nonstructural ions in litter relative to amount of throughfall (0.05 / cm)
