Keyboard short-cut: Alt, F, I, S.
This function imports an ArcView shapefile containing septic system data. When this function is activated, the dialog box will appear prompting the user to input a shapefile (.SHP) name. The shapefile must use decimal degrees for its coordinate system for the importing routine to function properly. Upon pressing OK, the shapefile’s corresponding .DBF file will be read and the codes extracted. The following dialog box will appear:
Choose the field which has the number of septic systems in each polygon of the shapefile. Press OK, and another dialog box will appear:
The Average People per Septic System is the average household size using a single septic system. The option to Replace Existing Septic System Population will set the septic system population to zero for all catchments in the area covered by the shapefile before calculating the septic system population from the imported data. If this box is unchecked, the imported septic system population will be added to the existing population in each catchment.
