The Data Module is for viewing and editing files from a model’s database.
Click in the box below Type of data to see the different data file types available and select one of the types. When each type of data is selected, a list of data files is entered into the box below File Name. Select any of these files to display its data. The latitude and longitude coordinates and the name of the place from which the data came are displayed above the graph or spreadsheet. Data may be viewed in graphical or tabular form. The Data Module, with Meteorology selected, is illustrated below.
With Graph selected, there is a graph and a list of different parameters in the data file to the right of the File Name. Select different parameters from the list to view the data for that parameter. The average and standard deviation for that parameter are shown in the upper right part of the data module. Click on Average and Standard Deviation to plot the average and range within one standard deviation of the average on the graph.
Select Table to view the data in tabular form. There is a column for the date and a column for each parameter in the data file. Values may be changed by clicking in a cell and entering a new value. To add rows to the end of the spreadsheet, click on Add Blank Rows to End of File. To delete rows, click on the cell to the left of the date cell to highlight a row and then press the Del key. To enter data from Excel, first highlight the data in Excel and copy it. Switch to the Data Module spreadsheet, select the cell in the upper left corner, and press Ctrl+V to paste the data into the Data Module. If a change is made, the user will be prompted to save changes before viewing data from another file or leaving the data module.
The Edit Menu in the Data Module has functions distinct from the other modules used to create and manage data files.
